Unfortunately, the leadership of the United Methodist Church, being as liberal as it is, would probably endorse this action.

Gravatar Oh I am sure the action is supported. Someone needs to tell the United Methodist Church that social justice does not mean breaking the law. I feel for the woman and would hate to see her separated from her son, but logical people when faced with circumstances such as this DO something logical. Holding up in a church is not logical. If you thought you would be deported and you really believed that a better life was to be found for you and your son in the United States, then why not take a citizenship test and become an American Citizen. Has anyone bothered to check and see if she could do this, even with a deportation notice? Perhaps the boy could be placed in care and held...I know none of us would like to see this type of thing with our own children...but at least until the woman went through proper channels to do what is necessary to have a life in a country she apparently feels is a better place to live. If I went to another country, I could expect to be deported if I didn't take necessary steps to protect my way of life there.

It seems some churches do not understand the Biblical commands to obey authority. The United States government is not always wrong. There has to be order in every society and asking people to express loyalty to a nation from which they earn their income and live safely is not wrong. Chaos exists where order is not present.

Leadership should take a stand and give direction. Of course they will say God's law's supercede mans....only of course when it gives them an out....but when did God say to buck laws that are set up to protect the citizens of your nation and that have within them policies to allow citizenship and protection of those from other nations within their borders.

Gravatar I say let's burn the church with the motherfucka inside!!!
