Gravatar For those of us old enough to remember, we have gone from Jeanne Dixon to Pat Robertson!

Gravatar I agree that Pat Robertson sometimes makes some outlandish statements and I do not many of his views. However, I don't think we should so quickly dismiss the possibility that the Lord could reveal some truth through him. Nor should we dimiss ipso facto the connection between immorality and divine judgment. We live under grace in Christ, true enough; but under this covenant of grace the Apostle Paul said that the wrath of God is still revealed from heaven against ungodliness (Rom. 1). I don't believe anyone can speak "Thus says the Lord..." and say this hurricane or that tornado or tsunami is God's judgment on sin. We must remember that it was Satan who was responsible for the whirlwind in Job. But, nonetheless, we should not dismiss the possibility or cast aspersions on those who point it out to us.

Cordially,
Mike Jeffress

Gravatar Although I do not always agree with Pat Robertson's comments, the test of a prophecy as being from the Lord is if it comes true or not. Even though God normally speaks through His Word to us, it is not unusual for the Lord to reveal what we need to know concerning something that is to come. We must be discerning. Remember, the Old Testament prophets were often not taken seriously and ridiculed and rejected. God often warns us before judgment falls on us personally and corporately. As Christians, we need to be careful to discern that what we say is from the Lord, but I would not judge Pat Robertson or say he is wrong until after "September" 2007. In the meantime, it is always good to pray, stay in the Word, and trust God. I often wonder how many Christians are truly praying about world events. It is comments such as Pat's that remind me to increase my prayers for our nation, the body of Christ, and our world.

Gravatar I grew up watching the 700 Club and I do believe God does speak to His people past, present, and future through His servants. I think God may tell Christians something related to the future so that we can be prepared, and so we can pray for it to be either adverted or lessened through our corporate prayer. How do we know that Pat's words aren't from the Lord, if by our prayers a terrorist attack was averted? I agree we can't judge him, but use it to pray for our country, President, and officials, as well as, for God to show us how we can be His hands and feet during disasters, such as Katrina.
Sincerely,
Carolyn
