Gravatar I have noticed that Christian History Magazine, an affiliate of Christianianity Today has become more liberal (according to my standards) since Jennifer Trafton became Editor. When Mark Galli was Editor is was a good magazine. We are canceling our subscription to C.H. It makes me sad because at one time it so enriched our lives.

Gravatar Yes, and it's so exciting. Not sure what you mean by "solid" evangelicalism, but these young guys have a lot to teach us baby boomers (I'm 62) about the reality of the Christian life and how to communicate it to the new generations of people who need Jesus. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater by impuning the word "emergent" - it's possible to do the same with "evangelical" if you listenn to what some say.

Gravatar If we remember that "evangelical" refers to "the gospel of Jesus Christ" and is not a synonym for the Religious Right's cultural or political agenda, it wouldn't be so strange that CT is not like World magazine.

Gravatar When in recent memory was Christianity Today a solid evangelical magazine... back in the 60's?

It's flirted with every wacko view since then and this is just the latest, though I liked the issue when it had the photo of the T shirt that said "Jonathan Edwards is my home boy".

Gravatar I have for a number of years now studied closely both the purpose driven church models and teachings as well as the Emerging Church models and teachings.

We do need to be speaking to our culture who is accepting of almost everything that is not in the Gospel; but I question how. Jonathon Edwards (the famed evangelist) conforonted his culture; oh, and I do think they were much the same as ours. Sodomy is not new, the gay lifestyle is not new etc. etc..

I do not agree that we have to put every doctrinal belief up for debate; that I think is the error in both camps. There is more, but we will spread it out over several notes..
