Gravatar Perhaps it is Rev. Chris who is being a bit disingenuous in that it is not Paul that sets aside the Dietary Laws but rather Luke in Acts Chapter 10. As for Jesus not saying anything about Homosexuality, just what do you think Jesus meant when he spoke of marriage in Matthew Chapter 19?

Gravatar Deacon Tony says Jesus said nothing about homosexuality and quotes a statement of Jesus about marriage. Yes, it is about MARRIAGE, not homosexuality. Jesus nowhere addresses homosexuality AS SUCH. That is, about the nature of an individual who is homosexual in their orientation. As a matter of fact, he doesn't say anything about homosexual activity.

Rev Chris

Gravatar This is interesting, thanks.

Gravatar I have never posted anything on a blog before, so forgive me if I seem like a novice... it's because I am.

I stumbled onto the blog page of the web site by accident but was quite ammused and appalled by the comments of Rev. Chris from Thursday, June 26th.

I am assuming Rev. Chris is an ordained minister of the Church of Jesus Christ and has more than just a basic understanding of scriptrual interpretation and herminutics.

First of all Dr. Dobson's claim is well founded, in that Obama, as most (I don't want to paint with too broad a brush) polititians have a propinsity for taking scripture out of context to make it say something it doesn't. I believe Peter and not Paul made the distinction between the dietary laws that separated Jew from Gentile; and it was also Peter who said Scripture is of no private interpretation. All scripture must be interpreted in context, historical and textural. Let's face it, there are some "hard" verses in the Bible that may seem contridictory on the surface, but are explained fully and without contradiction in other areas of the Bible.

I the case of context... It is true that Jesus is speaking specifically about marraiage and not homosexuallity. But to say Jesus never spoke to the subject is to deny that all scripture is God breathed and suitable for guiding the actions of believers... all believers.

Jesus only explains marriage in the context of male / female union and does not contradict other passages which specifically prohibit any sexual activity outside marriage. Homosexuallity is a Biblical prohibition in all its forms. Sin is sin and some sin carries a greater physical consequence that others.

Just remember God loves all of us with maximum love. He hates all of our sin with maximum hate; so much so that was willing to provide a way and means of forgiveness that is open to all...

But please do not take out of context a prooftext for that which is sin.
