As ever, the reference book for this is Sebastian Haffner's brave, astonishing (and underrated) "Defying Hitler" - nothing is happening now that didn't happen then . In this instance, the sudden appearance in the courts of "advisers" to the judge, once the Nazis had their feet firmly under the table. You can bet something similar has happened in this case.
