You see the thing is that by saying the Islanders are a bunch of welfare queens, they might just take a good look at themselves and decide, hey you know maybe we should get off our asses and get a damn job like the rest of the folks out there. Then they might actually make something of themselves.
That might then lead to their children also doing the same, you know, making something of themselves, actually working, contributing to society, having a valid reason to be proud of themselves. Heck they might even show the rest of us how it's done.
Nah, the left won't have any of that, no way folks, the real racists know how to ruin a people, they won't let them become anything more than just welfare queens, the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Hi guys .. LibertyScott wrote a good piece last week on this report and the subsequent hooha. He echoed my own sentiments.
He made the point that the man was entitled to make the report. But the statists on both sides jumped and down according to their prejudices. The right predictably said "boot them out!" and the left predictably said "this is racism!"
Both played the odious collectivist card. Both conveniently ignored the Pacific Island success stories like an old family friend of ours. How dare they lump Lei in with losers on the basis of her ethnicity.
Having said that, though, nobody can deny that Pacific Islanders (and Maori) figure disproportionately in all the wrong stats.
So, that's where I'd take it to their community leaders and say "you know what's going on; what are *you* going to do about it?"
Stopping the tithing in order to build monolith churches & prop up the pastors at the expense of family welfare would be a good start ...
