Ron Paul is not really a Republican, which is why he speaks truthfully about many issues. He's a Libertarian using the name-recognition of the Republican Party to get some words out.

stevec, you are nuts.
until reagan, history has shown that the republican party was strongly in favor of a small federal government, personal and fiscal responsibility, and separation of church and state.
none of that is true now.
the republican party of recent days is owned by neo-conservatives and religious right nutcases.
wake up. ron paul is the real republican, the others are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Ron Paul has been a 10 term Republican Congressman. That means he's been a Republican Congressman for 20 years. That gives him a long voting record we can look at for consistency. This is a good thing of course.
For the inflation tax issue, I highly recommend checking out

JFK also knew there was something wrong with printing money out of thin air and tried to go to a Silver standard.
