It's the military, innit? What happens when these guys have to be ordered into the field of fire - they going to complain about standing out then, or say they feel uncomfortable?
I knew a young army officer who wanted all prayer abolished in the military, including mess halls, because they are "government property". Even I thought he was goofy on this subject, and I'm anything but a religious person.
The separation of church and state is not what the ACLU thinks it is. But that doesn't stop them from thinking of the Constitution as a "living document".
