I'm not totally convinced it's an obsolete policy (the arguments are too detailed to get into here, but have NOTHING to do with women's capabilities) but BRAVO for her. What a gal!

I viewed your Afghanistan pix in context with background research for a novel I'm writing.
Could you supply weather/temps for the season you were there? It looks like spring or early summer. Also, were you able to identify any of the plant life? The shot of the girls at the school appears to have two eucalyptus trees in the foreground, right. I'm looking for this type of info to use in my story.

Ken, I'm familiar with those arguments, practical and emotional. Still, for my money, women like PFC Brown have rendered that policy obsolete.
Women need not be in the infantry in order to be in the thick of it, and clearly combat is one of those "gender free" activities.
