Lito Shepard anyone?

LOL.

Would I like to delete this game?

Most definitely.

I understand the game analysis, but what does it matter if Joe Gibbs is a Republican or not?

Being "Republican" or "Democrat" is not always a guarantee of your beliefs or actions, and I do not really see much place for bashing Gibbs on it.

That being said, your Redskins football discussion was spot on.

Gravatar Hi,
I've been reading this blog for a couple weeks now. I'm not a Skins, but I enjoy your writing. I'm mostly an AFC guy,Broncos were my favorite team when I was growing up.

Re:Gibbs at the convention last night
Now you know how I felt when Elway campaigned for Bush in '04!

Gravatar JG-

Thanks for reading, I hope I did not put you too far off, it is true I occasionally mix politics and football.

It is about church and state, we have a fundamental separation in this country and as such a discussion of quote god's playbook unquote, what happens when you do not follow it and how electing two particular people to the office of the president quote would be a return to god's word unquote has no place in a purely political proceeding and even so I will take a wild guess that the event was not equitable in that we did not get to hear about the torah or the Koran and how these religious tomes are also playbooks to salvation and lower taxes.

Gravatar JA- come by any time you like and feel free to drop me a note on email if you see something noteworthy. Perhaps I can persuade you to join our merry band of miserable Redskins fans.

Gravatar Well Ben, I live in the skins tv market, so I root for them to be decent since I want to see good football. And I hate Dallas, so I guess I'm a "fan" at least twice a year!

Gravatar Thanks for your quick response. And dont worry about "putting me off". I may disagree with some of your statements, but that doesn't mean I would not return to your blog (and its excellent Skins coverage) simply due to a political view, for as I already stated I come here for the football not politics

And as far as separation of church and state, I don't think that just because we need that separation that we should require our politicians to avoid discussing their views of religion. Just because Gibbs feels that electing a Republican would be part of God's plan does not mean that said Republican would disrespect that line between church and state. Now, had he said that electing a Republican would take steps toward converting others to his religious views, I could see an issue.

Anyways, I suppose I am just adding to the political discussion on a football board (guilty of my own criticism!), but please know I am not trying to prove you wrong in your opinions, but rather just enjoy discussion

Gravatar JG, glad you came back by, look above the fold now, I have nother political piece up, Jim Zorn took a bike ride with George Bush yesterday. Must... stop... politicking... on... football blog...

So many indicators that our nation is doing worse are in play: more uninsured than ever, more in poverty than ever, unemployment rising, foreclosures accelerating and a rancorous partisan divide that effectively is eliminating political moderates thereby ensuring everything becomes tit for tat and zero sum.

The pious thing is not to advocate for Democrats or Republicans, but rather to use your profile to call attention to those in need according to the teachings of your faith.

Joe may do wonderful things on God's behalf when he is not cheating in NASCAR or trying to get John McCain elected, senator McCain has no plans to use men of faith like Joe Gibbs for anything other than vote getting and Joe Gibbs must know that. Therefore it is all a charade bordering simony.
