Sorry, but when I see the word chum in English, it brings immediate memories of the Hardy Boys, and not the Hebrew word for brown. Maybe a better transliteration would be choum? Or choom? Or drop the c altogether: houm? That way it looks like houmus; maybe they're related as well...

I have seen online the transliterations chuwm and khoom - but they just looked a bit odd to me.
