I am so grateful that you had this explanation of bensching! First of all, I don't know how to bensch that well but I also always thought it was bench. I always remember my grandfather doing it in mumbles and quickly with certain spurts of loudness. My husband and oldest son, however, are very good at it.
I needed the definition because I keep a blog and often do a What Do Jews Do on...post for holidays. This evening, I was noting how the NCAA men's basketball championship game is the night of the first seder and was lamenting how proably plenty of Jews will watch the 9:21 pm start - which perhaps was timed to coincide with the end of the bensching? :) I don't know of course.
Anyway - have a good holiday and thank you.
