Gravatar I was in a men's Bible study last week and a guy told us a story about him and the guys at his work. Apparently he's the main Christian influence around there and everyone was talking about the DaVinci Code, so he set up an informational class for all his analytical coworkers to learn more about it related to Christianity. At the end of his story, he said with pride "8 out of the 10 people that came in to the study left swearing never to see the movie or read the book!" Yea I definitely wanted to slap myself in the head after that one.
If anything all the talk about this movie will be good, people are getting more interested in the Bible and we can pull it out and show them what the Bible really says. And if people are worried about faltering in their faith from watching a movie, I think they've got more serious problems to look at.

End rant.

Gravatar nice.

Gravatar Ya, totally agree with this should be an opportunity to talk about Jesus with people who would otherwise not want to stop for a second and talk about Jesus/the Bible/Church.
It is sad though that the Church has done such a poor job in general of educating its people about the Truth, so that none should feel threatened by any claims. Really, its obsurd to think that the early Christian Church who were being persecuted constantly would be able to hide things about Jesus having offspring. Besides that, Danny Boy's main thing is that Jesus was with Mary Magdeline. Which is silly, but even if it was true - what would it matter? Jesus was human...right?
Anyways - my only problem with Dan Brown's book is that he states that all evidence used is from factual and historical art, books, etc. He then makes claims off of these 'facts' that decive the reader into thinking they are also facts.
Well...looks like I should get my own Blog. haha

Gravatar Re:Steve's comment:
#1 Mary Mag. It seems like it would be a really big deal if that whole marriage thing is true but I can't clearly say why. But one thing I heard someone say is that Jesus was perfect but he couldn't possibly remain perfect and sinless if he was in a marriage relationship. And I don't think this person meant this as a witty remark.

#2 I definitely agree that the use of "facts" decieves the reader/viewer and THAT alone is my
objection. pretty much.

But also, will people REALLY be interested in hearing about the bible? You can't start arguing and end up evangelising. Well, I can't.

end of my message.

Gravatar see dan brown's website for what he has to say about the book, and about his own beliefs...

Gravatar I enjoyed the book and can't wait to see the film. I agree with you, Alp, we shouldn't be threatened by what is clearly fiction.

Gravatar My only concern was that I heard the movie was pretty tedious and boring. I don't want to pay and then fall asleep.
