Aah, indeed, this is a superinteresting topic. Theres a range of ethnographic studies dealing with the phenomenon from different perspectives. These can be grouped into two main approaches: the 1980s and 1990s Cultural Studies researching 'youth- and subcultures' [which are widely critiziced in the present] and sociocultural anthropologic ones that research the field focussing the 'second generation' (of migrants - within germany nowerdays the term mostly is used to refer to the children of turkish migrants, muslim identity implied).
