Gravatar I fear that we will soon be having this "Sharia Law" argument in the U.S. I hope that we will be smarter than Europe and say "enough is enough".

I support people's right to freedom of religion, but it is NOT okay to treat gay people (or women, or people who do not practice your religion, etc) like this. If Muslims come to this country, they need to live by OUR laws...we should not adjust our laws to fit their religion.

If they want their women to walk 10 feet behind them, then fine - no harm done. But if they want to stone someone for showing their nose in public, then that shouldn't fly.

Gravatar If they want their women to walk 10 ft behind them - there's a place that can happen. It's called Saudi Arabia. I'd suggest they move there.

Gravatar Yeah, good point. I should have clarified that statement. I meant "they" as in Muslims in general. But you're right - live in this country and you live under our laws, where rights and protections are afforded to all people.

Gravatar Whether or not this pops the pimple on John Bull's ass remains to be seen.
If London, Luton, and all the otehr little 'hams' witness blood in the streets, they should only remember the 'Battle of Britain' was fought to prevent this.
This version of the same war seems to have been forfeited.

Gravatar I can tell you as a Gay Muslim, that unfortunately, many of those in my culture and who belong to my religion are extraordinarily homophobic. I feel much more secure being here in California where things are more liberal, however for fears of those within my group still do not come out of the closet. Just look at Dubai where it is illegal to have gay sex.

Gravatar Tarek, As one gay American to one who's beliefs I don't share, I am grateful to hear your appreciation.
We didn't get here overnight.
Thank you.

Gravatar Tarek: Why do (some) Muslim say the way to kill a gay person is throw them off a mountain or have a wall fall on them.

Why those specific ways of dying?

Gravatar Hmm, has Europe ever experienced anything like this before; Youths roaming the streets, enforcing extra-legal tenents? A large segment of the population hopeful that, one day, those tenents are ensconced into law? Many wearing identifiably specific clothing, and holding an identifiably specific symbol in higher regard than national ones?

Wake up Europe.

Gravatar Yeh, Kinda tickles my memory, DH. Weren't they some sort of community organizers? Well, maybe they called them Gaulieters..maybe Konsumol.
Gear up youngsters, you may soon be experience what some of us have only read about and I've had to write reports about.

Gravatar The current situation in London with regard to homophobia is no worse than anywhere else in the world. I have lived here all my life and been to practically every gay bar in London, not to mention walked home at 4am in the morning on numerous occasions. I am white, and I have never had any problems whatsover with the muslim community.

This terrible incident was purely a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whether the attack was carried out by a muslim, a catholic, a jew, an atheist, is irrelevant. The incident could have quite easily involved a white youth who was from a disfunctional family background.

Sharia Law is NOT up and running in the UK. I suggest people in the USA and Canada watch less FOX and CNN, as both these channels broadcast nothing but bullshit and one-sided propaganda!

Gravatar Hey Warren it's your country. If you say there's no problem there's no problem. Just, you know, call us if you need us - we'll probably drop everything and bail Europe out again when your nuts are in the fire. Although, after three times last century, it really is getting old.

Gravatar Kevin, a young man has been brutally attacked and paralyzed for life. I'm not going to enter into a debate with you about 'how wonderful' the USA is. Quite frankly, who cares?

I was merely making the point that London is an incredibly gay-friendly city to both live and work in, that's all. Attacks like this can happen in any international city - whether it be London, Paris, Rome, Moscow, wherever. It's one of the sad reflections of the way our world is right now I'm afraid.

No young gay person deserves to have their life destroyed by any other human being. The nationality, religion and skin colour of the attacker is irrelevant

Gravatar I don't expect you to debate how "wonderful" America is. Amsterdam used to be incredibly gay friendly as well - and that is rapidly changing due the presence of Muslim immigrants who refuse to matriculate with the native mores. In short, there's a fire burning in Europe, and before it gets completely out of control it might behoove y'all to pick up a freakin' hose.

Gravatar Kevin, don't get me wrong, I'm not in denial about the serious problems we are having here with regard to muslim-extremism. Most of us 'ordinary Brits' think our politicians are a bunch of pussies - and the sooner we get rid of them the better!

The biggest enemy which faces Britain right now is our European Union membership. All EU members have an 'open-door' policy for immigration for citizens in other EU countries. France, Germany and Holland all have huge muslim communities - and there isn't a damn thing we can do to stop them sailing over the English channel.

We have a political party called the BNP (British National Party), but they have recruited a few nasty looking people with serious criminal backgrounds! lol

If you have any solutions, please let me know buddy

Gravatar I don't think there's an easy solution. While the BNP might be the nasty side of the coin - I would say the flip side is something we can all agree on. First and foremost we should defend our cultural heritage - Western Civilization - and our laws and our mores. People that move to our countries must adapt to our ways of life.

Gravatar Well I totally agree with you on that measure. The really irritating thing about living in London nowadays, is the way we are made to feel ashamed if we want to protect our cultural heritage. In some liberal middle-class social circles, merely just bringing up the subject of immigration is enough to get you branded a right-wing extremist, let alone a racist. I have also got friends in Sweden, and it's pretty much the same there, if not worse.

Throughout history, people have always wanted to protect what is 'theirs'. Whether it be their home, their land, their crops, their livestock, their culture, their identity, themselves!.....

So why is everyone these days so god damn fuckin scared of standing up and protecting what is rightfully OURS?? Isn't it part of the 'animal' in us to want to protect and look after ourselves??? You see, I'm afraid our politicians here have become a bunch of pussies, which is clearly the reason why we are in such a MESS! The problem is, people are confused about what the word racism actually means these days - many people are just xenophobic, and not 'racist' as such. I'm sure many centuries ago, the word racist never even existed.

In my opinion, it is the left-wing extremists and the marksists who are the 'real' racists on this planet. For they are the very people who want to reduce this world into a coffee-coloured 'mono-culture' where there are no races left, no flags, no borders, no individual unique cultures, no boundaries which divide land and people. They detest individual cultures and individual races..

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL RACISM!

Gravatar Agreed!

Gravatar My earlier comment about the culture and background of the mugger being irrelevant was just a bit of fun, to wind you up! hehe

I'm not a racist person by any means - and believe me, any gay muslim who needs to come to London to escape a homophobic country, is MORE than welcome here.

But we have to be realistic. If most of our violent crime is committed by immigrants - these issues MUST be addressed and discussed properly in Parliament, rather than ignored.

By the way, this is a great page. Sorry if I have..ermm, talked too much. I will now shut-up, and give someone else a chance!
