The last two Friday Challenges were among the best I've seen since I started entering them. (Man, was it really only five or six months ago that I started?) Congrats to Bane, KTown, Ben-El and...me... for their wins!
Bruce, thanks for the suggestions and inspirations for the two stories I wrote. I doubt I'd have conceived either one of them without the Friday Challenges to prompt my imagination!

In the interests of accuracy I must point out that it was Rycamor who made the inspiring post, not I.

Congrats, all.
Do you really have Captain Planet video? If so... why?

Thanks, Rigel.
Or should I thank myself? Are you me...? I was starting to wonder why I never have a memory of the hours from 3AM to 7AM:
Rigel Kent -> rycamor, same number of syllables.
Kent State is in Ohio, and I'm from Ohio.
My real name starts with R, with a British last name.
I *have* been known to randomly rant and rave on occasion.
Too many coincidences... I bet next thing we'll find you're some sort of science-fiction-reading libertarian.

Note, also, that "Kent" is well known as a name used for secret identities. Asking the same question people always ask about Clark Kent when he shows up right after Superman leaves, has anyone ever seen the two of you together before?

Do you really have Captain Planet video? If so... why?
As it is written in the Tao of Roger Rabbit: because it's funny.

'horrorshow realism'? Hey, we're talkin about my life here!
Oh...yeah. Never mind.
Nice Clockwork Orange reference. Gosh, I love that movie.

"Long I Stood There" reminds me of "Hills Like White Elephants" and I love this story. No easy wrap up, no resolutions, just a day in the life I can relate to, drawing out my emotions and running me through the paces. Thank you, Ben-El.

BTW, nice job on that one, Bane. You manage to convey a lot of personality in just a few words.
KTown, you are the winner of wistful writing.
Really, I think the carnie thing brought out some of the best writing I've seen in this group in awhile. I enjoyed every last one.

Global warming or global cooling?? When I was a kid in the 70's the next ice age was just around the cornor. Now it's global warming. I wish the eco-chicken littles would get their act together and decide. I have news for all those eco-chicken littles, climate change has been around for a long time. The earth's climate has changed and will change. How arrogant of them to think that man's activities have brought about the change. How arrogant and ignorant to claim that cow belches are harming the atomosphere on one hand and then to sing the praises of the bison on the other. Hello, bison and cattle are both ruminents. They both belch methane. It is their contribution to the circle of life. The plant harvests solar energy and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and creates carbohydrates, food for the plant and those that eat the plant. One of the by-products of this process is oxygen, essensial to the eaters of plants. How foolish and arrogant is mankind to think that their puny contribution of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere is changing the climate. Wake up people! Al Gore and his cronies are full of hot air and steamy bovine excretion. The eco-chicken littles don't have a life, they want to control yours. Change is the law of the universe. Prepare for it.

On the identity confusion, which one of us is supposed to be Superman?

Rycamour must be Superman, Rigel. With the last name of Kent, you're stuck in the role of secret identity.

Oh, and no entry for me this week. I think it's even too late to be snowdogging it. I'll be reading everyone else's entries soon, though, while resting my creative energies and preparing for next week's challenge.
