As with all new releases, I will wait a couple weeks after initial release before venturing forth to view the subject film.
I hate crowds. And there are very few choice seats in a theater that provide acceptable viewing; the smaller the crowd, the better the odds are at obtaining one of said choice seats.
This does not diminish my nerdiness, however. I am simply a nerd with agoraphobia.

I'm seeing it at 9:30 Saturday morning at the Imax.
It's been a fantastic year for films so far, with the only bad one that I've seen being Indiana Jones.
I saw Hellboy last weekend and it was awesome.
More and more movies that haven't been crushed and homogonized by the studios are getting through and it's a great time to be a geek.
I think all us movie goers owe Peter Jackson a big thanks.

I abhor movie crowds, but the midnight fanboys are usually respectfully quiet during the film.
Seeing Episode I (forgetting what it is) among all of those real Star Wars geeks was actually a good deal of fun.

Forgot to answer!
Going tomorrow afternoon, in violation of all my better judgment.
Hopefully, seeing it at "The Art Theater" will lessen the idiot quotient in the crowd. It seems folks don't look for mainstream product there, thankfully.
After all, Hancock was DEAD there a few days after opening.

No, I'm just going to announce, with tremendously smug self-satisfaction that something more important took over my plans.
But the birth of a third child mere hours ago will make any man irritatingly smug. And since hospitals now have wireless internet, we can inflict the news upon all.
Boa noite, and enjoy your movie. I'll catch up later.
P.S. and prepare for the econocalypse. Don't say you weren't warned.

Congrats, rycamor! Which was it, boy or girl?
I expect I'll be taking the boys to see Dark Knight Saturday afternoon. I've got a long drive home tomorrow afternoon and can't afford to miss the sleep. Besides, the last time I caught a midnight showing of a movie, 300 a couple of years ago, I was tired and bleary eyed at work the next day.
Yep, I'm getting old.
And, with that, I'm off to bed, without even a Friday Challenge entry this week (it's just been one of those weeks). If inspiration hits, maybe I'll pull a snowdog tomorrow morning.

I had an insufficiently-backed-up machine die on me this week, so I'll be trying to get it back on its feet. As soon as that is accomplished, I'll be going. Saturday or Sunday.

I have no interest in it whatsoever.
That probably makes me a complete loser.
At least here.

Henry, it's a girl. And the smug feeling has already evaporated in the knowledge that I will be spending yet another night on that weird fold-out couch, with no change of clothes.
And because I forgot my friggin' earphones, I can't watch my DVD with the director's cut of Chronicles of Riddick. At least, not at the volumes required.

Riddick was a a great flick! I was bummed that it bombed at teh box office denying me the chance to see the journey to the underverse.
But more important, CONGRATS on the baby!!!

Sorry, Christian Bale is the best Batman. Period.
I haven't decided when I'll see it. Or I should say when I'll see it for the first time. This will call for multiple viewings.

Strange Burt Ward trivia:
While the '60s Batman show was still running and Burt Ward was under contract, he had a director offer him the lead role in an upcoming movie. Ward wanted to take the part but had to get permission because of his Batman contract. His request was denied and the director had to go with his second choice to play the lead. The movie? The Graduate, which put Dustin Hoffman on the "map" as an actor on the rise. What would Burt Ward's career have been like if he had been able to play that part?
And exactly how geeky am I to know such things?

No more so than I am for knowing that Ronald Reagan was originally cast as Rick in Casablanca, but he couldn't do the film because he was going into the Army, so the role went to Humphrey Bogart instead.

First off, congratulations Rycamor et. al. Second, to answer the question I will be going sometime after it hits the second run theater here in town (gotta love the $2.50 movies only a couple months after everyone else sees them).

I promised the kids we would see Wall-E next, so Batman will have to wait.
The way things seem to go around here, it'll probably have to wait until I can rent it from Movie Gallery.

I thought Wall-E was incredibly slow. If you like physical comedy and pretty much no dialogue the first third of the movie is for you. If not, at least take some solace in the visuals. Interestingly enough, if I wrote an entry this week it was going to be a parody of the movie. Called "Wall-T: The German Robot."
"...And zis robot is 'Wall-T'," said the old German professor.

Congrats rycamor.
Saw the movie at Midnight last night. It's a small, intimate affair, with screaming teenagers and flatulent beer bellies in cornflower blue stretch pants but whatcha gonna do?
Now for my completely expert opinion (no spoilers):
The movie was above average but not outstanding. Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker was quite good but I can't help but thinking that a lot of the hype was due to his untimely death.

I think it was outstanding, but I'm a big Batman fan.
I didn't even see Heath Ledger in that film. Not once. And I was really looking. He crafted a very freaky portrayal and overall Dark Knight is a very dark and disturbing film.

let me rephrase...it was early and I was up late watching a movie
I'm a big fan as well and I thought the movie was really good. It was the theater and the viewers that were the intimate affair blah blah blah.
I agree, I didn't see Ledger either. He played it perfectly...but I still think the performance was overhyped somewhat...and the visual impact created by Two-Face was very well done.

Just got back from a 3:45 showing, DLP projection.
Too early for a fair comparison between Dark Knight and Batman Begins, but it was a very good movie.
And I have to disagree about Ledger's performance being over-hyped. I thought he dead-on nailed the Batman/Joker struggle.

Just one question. After looking at the Batcycle --

-- how does he ride the blasted thing without getting his cape tangled up in the rear wheel?

"And in other news, Gotham City's controversial masked vigilante, Batman, was found dead this morning in an alley in the city's warehouse district. Ironically, after years of fighting a warrantless and often illegal one-man war on the city's disaffected, disfigured, disadvantaged, and psychiatrically challenged residents, the Big B.M., as he was known by many, appears to have been accidentally strangled when his legendary flowing black cape became entangled in the drive belt of his unlicensed and illegal 'Batcycle.'"
