As far as reviews go, like others have said, it's your blog, do what you want. The idea of a separate blog or section probably won't fly with the product owners... they want your review because they want the traffic your blog gets.
Realistically, as long as you don't turn into a shill, I'd read it. But if every product became the greatest invention since the wheel and every CD crowned a new king of rock n roll, then, not so much.

I'd say yes to the reviewing - I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on products as long as they didn't take over your blog - 'specially music stuff. It kinda makes sense (unless you are reviewing the Wiggles all the time or something like that)
by now i think readers know your withering honesty (it's a compliment! honest!) will apply to the reviews as well. i think they'll appreciate your opinion. good luck...

If that's any indication of the items you'll be reviewing, I'd totally read them.
If I want to read product reviews, I'll go to the gazillion other sites that review products. I come to your site for some good old fashioned jocularity. Don't jump the shark, Chag.
As long as the reviews are honest - I say go for it ... as long as you retain complete control over content. If they make you submit the review to them for approval, tell them to go pound sand.
I look forward to seeing the occaisional product getting it the Pump-it-up treatment just to prove you still have your street cred ...
I'd be fine with the reviews. I've thought about doing it too, but I don't have the site traffic to make it worth it.
And I'm sure if you did review products, they'd be relevant and these type of posts wouldn't overtake your blog. We all understand that blogging takes time and you'd like a little return for your efforts. Go for it.

I say go for it on reviews, as long as they're products you're genuinely interested in. Many companies/groups/marketers are starting to highly appreciate the honest opinion of bloggers (as the representatives of real people). Take it as a sign of respect.
reviews on cool stuff like electronics, music, etc are OK. reviews on ointments, kithcen gadgets, or teethwhiteners, not so much.

I do solicited reviews- How else would I know about most of this stuff if the publicity person didn't e-mail me about it?
I only agree to review products that I might pick up myself anyway- toys, books, CDs, household products. And I do completely honest reviews. And I even made a separate blog for it that I link to mine whenever I publish a review. It's worked very well. The truth is, you're going to really like most of the stuff you review- I've discovered that people won't send you things unless they have a pretty good idea that you're going to love it.
