As you indicate, much of the rest of the world is dependent on the US consumer to maintain their economic growth. As far as I am concerned, consumers in other countries need to bear a greater proportion of the demand load. For the US, the slogan should be "Save more, spend less" and for everyone else "Spend more, save less".
