Gravatar Absolutely Anne. I JUST had this conversation with a friend of mine. I also had it with my Mother many, many moons ago. I remember her asking me:

"So, are you still Scott?"

and I said:

"I'll always be Scott, just wrapped up more fabulously."

She laughed. She liked it, but it took a while. I think it's funny that everyone thinks we're completely different people. I think that has to do more with age and freedom than it does with a transitioning into another place. I mean, you and I, and other girls like us, we were ALWAYS women, it's just that no one saw that.

It wasn't us that was blind, it was them.

Great post.

Gravatar Anne, you always write things so wonderfully, fantastic post
oh, and i love "I'll always be Scott, just wrapped up more fabulously.", i may use that myself, obviously changing the name Scott to mine first, don't want to confuse anyone even further

Gravatar So, who are you, anyway?

Of course we're still us. My ex argued that I had changed and she gave voice to some fairly superficial indicators, but in the end, it was only those things that did change. My soul -- the indicator to me, and to those who really know me, of who I really am -- did not change.

Check out this entry I wrote right after my surgery. It goes to this subject:
