Cincinnati Reds - Will we ever win again?

Labor unions have such a sterling record when it comes to non-violence.

Soaring food prices, driven in part by demand for ethanol made from corn, have helped slash the amount of food aid the government buys to its lowest level in a decade, possibly resulting in more hungry people around the world this year.

The United States, the world’s dominant donor, has purchased less than half the amount of food aid this year that it did in 2000, according to new data from the Department of Agriculture.

Hopefully the lefties feel just as good about themselves in their guilt-free green existence which only has good consequences....

Gravatar Right, because lefties are the ones who are forcing Americans to drive gas-guzzling SUVs, and lefties are the ones who who are forcing so many Americans to live 50 miles away from their jobs, and lefties are the ones who are forcing Americans to buy 4000 sq.ft. homes in areas unserved by public transportation.

None of this would be happening if righties were in charge.

Gravatar Not at all Mr Vaara.

The items you list are all personal choices made by individuals.

The lefty mantra comes into play with all of their forced Gaia religiousity. If ethanol/bio-fuels are the most important thing ever in the history of ever (or at least this week), lefties shouldn't mind if a few brown people are hungry and starved for food.

Priorities.

I'll take the welfare of individuals over the absolute dire necessity to switch the entire economy over to ethanol/bio-fuels in the next 15 minutes or we are all going to die in 16 minutes routine.

But then again, religions always have to have a bogeyman to shake in order to ensure a full collection plate. Gaia-ism is no different....

Gravatar I suppose it depends on whether you think things are fine and dandy the way they are -- i.e. that we currently have plenty of oil, and that we will continue to have plenty of oil, forever and ever, amen.

Gravatar lefties aren't forcing farmers to sell their corn to biofuel companies, either. it's a choice.

Gravatar Vaara, I agree totally. To use a tired cliche, it is important (very/vaara) that alternative fuels be developed. Technological advances not governmental force (ie. rampaging legislation) is what is needed. Oh those well-intended consequences associated with governmental "help"....

MOM, the farmers are indeed choosing to sell their subsidized (read: price/market distorted) corn to bio-fuel companies. See above for what is not needed.
