On a related note, i DID actually watch Shrek 3! And enjoyed it! 
Princesses kick ass. Actually I found the whole "father" thing hilarious -- shades of Jack Neo and I Not Stupid Too! *do i hear groans?* No, ok, seriously, I do like the way Shrek plays with meaty issues in a light-hearted way. Kinda like a chicken pie if you think about it; bite-sized chunks of meat in a light puff pastry, but we all know we eat the pie for the pastry! ;P *ok end of lame metaphor there*
Seems like the "fairytale" element is fading out of the Shrek series though, becoming more of a side story than the main point. Oh well, my 2 cents' worth
