Gravatar I was beginning to think that nobody has noticed.

Gravatar Great article by Boyer. I especially enjoyed Fredreica's comment about Gibson's script writers - “He doesn't even have a Ph.D. on his staff,” she says. Guess what? Neither did Jesus.

Gravatar Another gem by the ADL:

"You know, the Gospels, if taken literally, can be very damaging, in the same way if you take the Old Testament literally,” Foxman went on. “It says, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' Now, has the Jewish state, or have Jews, practiced the Old Testament by taking an eye for an eye? No."

I guess not if you don't consider assasinating terrorists "an eye for an eye". Seems to me the Jewish state takes eye for an eye quite literally.

Gravatar I have two dear friends who are Israelis, currently studying here in the U.S. I can't describe the relief I feel knowing I don't have to nervously scan the fine print for the names of victims in the latest suicide horror. They, of course, don't have that luxury.

I don't have a particular problem with Israel going after the masterminds of this crap--not even a little. It's a measured response to those who take out a school bus or Sbarro with C4 and a crapload of nails.

That said, taking out the apartment building to kill one Hamas guy was not proportional, as have been several other Israeli actions.

Re: Foxman. That quote implies a staggering lack of biblical knowledge. After all, the "eye for an eye" was a limitation on retribution, and a quantum improvement on neighboring peoples, who tended to allow you to take an arm for a finger, so to speak.
