Gravatar Speechless with admiration over here in Washington Crapitals country.

Gravatar A rare moment of light in a dark NHL season. Which will only be marked as the one before the collective bargaining agreement becomes history, and the league goes kablooey. Or the season when Todd Bertuzzi almost turned Steve Moore into a paraplegic, a vegetable, or a corpse. Must do mea culpa. My "Broad St. Bullies" Flyers of the mid 70s were the lineal descendants of the current sucker punchers. Today, I follow the other three major sports obsessively. Hockey only gets a ho hum until the playoffs.

Gravatar Dale, Did you get an invitation to the Parish Hall?

(I know the URL is ugly but it's free for now...)

I miss hearing from you

Mary

Gravatar Yes, but I haven't had much of a chance to reply to my email, and it's getting backlogged.

I'll blog a link later, and make sure to drop by--looks like a great board to me!

Gravatar Great. Don't hurry, I can see that you are busy here. I was just making sure that you were invited.

Gravatar I always thought Hasek was a class act.

Gravatar I'd like to see that happen in baseball just to see how the Don Fehr/Gene Orza and the Players Association would react.

Gravatar Dale,

OK, OK, I'll admire him just a little bit, but as a Dallas Stars fan it's HARD for me to like him a WHOLE BUNCH!

Gravatar Peony:

Sympathies to the faithful in Caps country. Even though we got Robert Lang out of the deal, the Capitals fire sale is beyond ridiculous.

Gravatar Gerald:

Agreed that it can be tough to get up for the NHL regular season: 82 games to eliminate about half the teams.

Then again, there is no "Second Season" in professional sports quite like pro hockey's.

And I'll disagree about the Bullies and 70s-80s "goon" hockey. The Hammer never broke anyone's neck. Bob Probert punched you from the front, not behind. What Bertuzzi did was cowardly and vile by comparison--a gutless cheap shot. The "goons" didn't play that way.

Gravatar Terry:

A Stars fan?!?

Then again, an Avs devotee regularly lurks here. And Eddie Belfour now plays for the Maple Laffs, so that's one less person to dislike. Can't get too upset, all things considered.

Gravatar Bryan:

Fehr and Orza will have set up a hit by now.

Gravatar it is unseemly, isn't it? Poor Peter Bondra. Enjoy Mr Lang. When they sell off Kolzig and Halpern their damage will be complete. I wonder if we'll even have a team after the strike.

Gravatar Another Sabres fan here! Thanks for the article
