But, but, I thought we are an Easter people -- called, chosen, y'know? HeLLO, I'm not feeling very affirmed here...

My litmus test is pretty simple and doesn't have much to do with deep theological analysis. If it's Hallmark-Movie-of-the-Week cringeworthy or conjures images of Kermit the Frog in his swamp singing "Rainbow Connection" (the Lamb of God at my local church honestly brings that image to mind, together with highly inappropriate suppressed giggles), then it's just not workin' for me.

And please, Muppet fans, don't attack me. I absolutely love both The Muppet Movie and that song (especially when sung by the little green guy himself), and own the soundtrack. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Just not at the Lamb of God.

What? You're saying that you think a crowd of foppers (Steubenville gag, sorry) surrounding the cross on calvary singing "Our God is an Awesome God" is inappropriate? How about "Alpha and the Omega"?

You mean there were NO guitars or glad tamourines at the crucifixion?

Here I thought Mel was just making that part up...

Actually, I like the Steubie music (more than I like most Steubies) -- simple chords and quite reverent (doesn't sound like it came from the Titanic soundtrack).

Steubie music also tends to be vertical -- as opposed to most of the Amchurch dreck that I hate.
