Where Are All the Young Adult People?
Saw a whole slew of them at the local SSPX chapel last time I was there.
As for catechtetica texts, I think the answer is that the Los Angeles diocese probably doesn't use texts at all. I went to a diocesan catechists' meeting once in Halifax and they all talked very...er...emotively, about drawing the children's 'faith experiences' out of them and encouraging them to talk about their feelings. Don't remember texts entered into the discussion. Probably the only teacher stuff they use is crayons, construction paper and elmer's glue.

Wow. That place must be really in bad shape. All that "verticality," no felt banners, no happy risen Christ, no babbling holy water pond.... It must be empty on Sundays. Right?
I mean, that's why we changed, isn't it? We wouldn't have renovated and whitewashed our churches for no good reason. Right?
