Gravatar uh-oh

Gravatar Well, according to the Vatican's spokesman, it was elective. They downplay the health questions, though:

Make of that what you will. Hard to believe that the Pope would embrace that, given his love of speaking.

Gravatar Ohhh golly!

Oh Crikey! a trach tube! He's toast.

Gravatar For most people, it's probably not a big deal.

For an 84 year old with Parkinson's, though...

Then there's the old saw about Vatican reports on a pope's health:

"A Pope isn't sick until he's dead."

Gravatar He beat the reaper. Again. The secular media doesn't quite have a handle on it. Because those who report the story in MSM don't have a handle on their own feelings about the man. Or the Church he leads. Very interesting- not the usual "Pope Cracks Down" boilerplate. Perhaps the influence of the Catholic League and/or the 11/2/04 elections- oops, tread lightly, don't anger them- are coming into play. Meanwhile, prayers for the Holy Father to roar again
following his medically-imposed silence.

Gravatar "The secular media doesn't quite have a handle on it."

Indeed. They've provided some comedy the past couple of days, that's for sure.

Gravatar Someone should start a blog of funny media blunders about the Pope and Catholicism and call it 'Pope Cracks Down..."

that'd be hilarious.

Gravatar Hilary, starting a folder entitled "Pope Cracks Down" not only would be hilarious but would also be a contradiction in terms for this pope.
