Gravatar I also really enjoy Hugh's show. I actually record via the internet stream to listen to while at work (plus I can skip the commercials).

He might be a lasped Catholic but his show is certainly Catholic friendly, especially since the death of JP2.

Gravatar Yes, he has been Catholic-friendly, but I think you can say that's been the case for his whole career. He's never struck me as one of the bitter ones who incessantly fire shots.

This interview with Fr. Fessio (the entire transcript's now up at Radioblogger) just struck me as the effort of someone who might be testing the waters for a return. The focus on the Mass and the question about Mary especially.

Then again, I could very easily be reading too much into it, and those could be topics of interest for his evangelical audience. Time will tell.

Gravatar Hello Dale,

Since I get to attend mass celebrated by Fr. Fessio every week, I will note for the record that he does three Novus Ordos in Latin (fixed parts) every week, ad orientem, all altar boys, communion rails, kneeling and on the tongue, with only polyphonic choir or chant.

If every Novus Ordo was like this, I wouldn't always be looking so desperately for Tridentine or Eastern Rite churches when I'm out of town.

Fessio seems confident that the Pope will take some kind of action at the Liturgy doings in Rome this October. I hope he's right.
