That's an excellent article by Peter Boyle. I loved him in "Young Frankenstein" too.

It was written by Peter Boyer actually.
But if CBS actually does a JPII miniseries (Heaven Forbid!!!) I want to see Peter Boyle play the Pope, if he can do some serious acting.

Oops. Peter Boyer, indeed.
I have eyes and a brain, and I sometimes use them in coordination.

Say, it's 93 airy degrees here in Southeast Michigan...

Ha, ha!! I'm so glad for the clarification because I had the visual of the character Frank from "Everbody Loves Raymond" in my head as I was reading that... who by the way was very close friends with John Lennon and a big liberal, so you can imagine how incongruent he would be in association to the article.
Great though. I consider myself a JP2-er. I was 13 when he was elected and I really had not much recollection of 'who' was pope before.
I take umbrage with the sentiment that kids just wanted to go to some big assembly. I'm sure those same commentators who say that will assign soaring regard for humanity as the impetus behind young people's attendence at the upcoming Geldof "Live 8" concert (or, whatever it's called). One could say "they really only wanted to see a rock concert."
