Actually, the mood is more like fear. Nice to see the representation of Red Hats at the Vigil of Life Mass- our Cardinal Rigali was principal celebrant and delivered a slamming homily. But the point by Hypothetical Bishop is no doubt in effect, particularly since the Democrats' triumph in November. Perhaps they secretly hope that Hillary receives such a slamming defeat in '08 that the Democrats will recoil from the shock. Until then, one step forward, two steps back. This from a Giuliani supporter hoping he picks a serious pro-lifer like Sam Brownbeck or Rick Santorum.

Gravatar I guess what I was trying to say is that they have written off the pro-aborts, in deed if not in word.

And as to Giuliani--love the man on foreign policy, national security and military issues. There are few who think as clearly as he does.

But on abortion....can't see myself pulling the lever for him if there's anyone better on the issue. And, yes, I have seen the pretty convincing "Giuliani was all talk and no action" on abortion issues deal, and I do remember his protest of the elephant s--t Virgin Mary "art." Much to like, but too much to dislike.

Gravatar "cut the losses"

yes. Time to declare the schism openly and officially. Then start with the surgery. Painful, but the gangrene has poisoned the bloodstream and the patient doesn't have much more time.

I think Benedict knows this. I don't know why he's waiting.

Gravatar But I think you're dreaming (charitably dreaming at least) if you think that a guy like Wuerl is pulling his weasel stunt "teach" not admonish or discipline, because he has some kind of ulterior Catholic motive. There are those who are on one side, and those who are on the other, and others who are just so paralysed they can't do anything one way or another.

One of the surgeons, he ain't

Gravatar This was hypothetical?

Fooled me.
