"Since it is almost certainly a fait accompli that he will become a member "

Do you have anuthing to back this up other than the boast in the Hewitt interview?

If not, it seems that you are hanging all of this outrage on the word of a man you obviously believe is evel.

Gravatar "evil"

Gravatar Check Joshua's comment below. Between confirmation of an application, the necessity of sponsorship and his claim he was invited to join (which is implausible how?), that should be plenty of evidence.

Gravatar Oh, and since you dislike the tone at St. Blog's, it behooves you not to try to put words in other people's mouths.

Gravatar Dale --

That's a pretty generous suggestion. Sometimes we tend to get so angry about injustices, that we forget that there are souls out there to be saved.

Gravatar McAuliffe is a Clintonista, which means that you have to look at his exact words:

In fact, I'm up to be on the Knights of Malta right now. They've just asked me to join the Knights of Malta.

Since he didn't specify who "They" are, we cannot assume that he meant the Knights themselves asked him to join.

Granted, we live in a corrupt and enervated age, and he may wind up in the Knights after all; but until that happens, I would prefer to take their word over his.

Gravatar Who else but the Knights can invite someone to become a member?

The Knights haven't said word one about this matter, so far as I know, so it is impossible to take their word for anything related to it.

I emailed them yesterday but have not received a reply. I'd like to have one.

Gravatar FWIW, American Papist has some extra information that is at least comforting, even if it doesn't assuage all of Dale's concerns:
