But praise God that there is mercy, and that you both were able to be merciful to each other! Granted, nobody should be a jerk in the first place, but mutual apologies and forgiveness aren't something you see every day on the Internet.

Political differences aside, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Tony. He can certainly be infuriating at times, but we'd probably hit it off if we ever sat down together for a beer.
Good on both of you for patching up your differences.

I think there may be a happy flipside to the problems associated with the coarseness that we sometimes fall prey to with regards to blogging. In the end we realize it's just the blogopshere, and we can fairly easily patch over some of our more heated rhetoric when we come face to face with people or encounter them in other mediums.

i still think you were rightly pointing out where he was misreading your point of view. But if you've reconsidered HOW you pointed it out, and have made peace with him, that's a good thing.
And now the rest of us who thought you were not reacting badly have to reconsider our responses. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa...even if i didn't write down what i thought.

Chris:
Your mileage may vary--my conscience doesn't bind yours, as they say. Yeah, it was the "how," along with the inevitable "what" that follows, prompted by the decency of MM's reply, which lead to the Examen.
I agree--I think I made some good factual points, but it's hard to say they mean much when I fixed them to the head of a war hammer.
The phaser also has a "stun" setting.

Dale,
If i felt bound in this situation, it was by my own conscience. i enjoyed seeing the war hammer in action, and since you've recognized that the war hammer wasn't appropriate, i have my own conscience to examine.
Best,
chris
