Yeah, but I hear HBO's spectacular (in more than one sense of the word) Rome will be canceled. * Sigh *

I heard that, too. Though I have never seen it, the reviews were uniformly great. I heard the cancellation was based in large part on the extraordinarily expense, a result of (and tribute to) the historical accuracy and detail of the production.
Have to get the DVDs.

Yes, I believe it was the expense, despite the fact that it's been very successful. Do get the DVDs; you'll love the series.
And while you're at it, be on the lookout for HBO Films' Longford. It's extraordinary.

Ok, I'm uncool and all, but I'm getting better. In the weeks leading up to Ash Wed, I rented and watched in obsessively quick succession the entire series on DVD up to the end of season two.
It's the writing...
no, it's the acting...
no, it's the cliffhangers...
hard to say really, but one of the things I liked about it was that it used classic literary themes, you remember from highschool: man against nature, man against man...
And it made space travel look really hard and dangerous like it really is.
I always wanted to scream every time the crew of the Superdooper Enterprise 1701-Q.5 would have all their problems solved by creative technobabble.
And the Galactica's phones...loooove the phones.

Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, dangerously bored. I so don't give a flatulent spatter about Starbuck's "trust" issues or that whining little frat-brat Apollo's "daddy" issues, or his dad's "later-than-midlife crisis" issues, or the fat guy and his trailer-park wife's "day-to-day married life" issues.
Jeez, next they're gonna be bringing back that greazy little slut Cassiopia.
I DON'T EFFIN' CARE!!!
Maybe the whole purpose of this season is to point out how mind-numbingly dull the human race is without the cylons.
