Filipino robin? sounds familiar =^-^=

Gravatar Yeah. He's just like the American Robin, only cooler.

Gravatar Hi Jon.

I remember watching "Alyas Batman and Robin" here in the Philippines a few years back, the early nineties I think, and I came out a happy man. It was a comedy/farce starring our country's funnyman, Joey de Leon. You're right. Its one of the most heartless and audacious disrespect of intellectual property ever, but the audience had fun watching it.

Personally, I liked the last scene, a huge group dance number, where out came a hip-hopping MIDGET SPIDERMAN. LOL. Anyway, I think Warner Bros. later filed an injunction on the film so you don't see it nowadays being sold in vcd or dvd stores over here. Its kinda rare, and if given the chance, I'd get a copy myself.

By the way, speaking of Batman, did you know that as early as 1967, there was this black and white Filipino movie entitled: BATMAN FIGHTS DRACULA? It starred Jing Abalos as Batman and Dante Rivero as Dracula. It was a serious take this time on the caped crusader when in that period, the 1960s, Batman was being played for comedy relief in America via the Adam West version. Kinda ironic, don't you think?

Oh yeah, and thanks for the advice on using the word verification button. I'm not getting spams anymore. And I've just learned how to activate the moderator comments function of the blog. Thanks, man.

Aklas I.

P.S. I am just in awe of your blog here. I did not realize that there were other comics in southeast asia. Really. I wonder their industries are faring nowadays.
