I wouldn't write off the entire Anglican church yet - the Jensen brothers up in Sydney (now ArchBishop & Dean of the Cathedral) are a brilliant sign of hope, as are the very orthodox Anglican dioceses in Africa.

The Jensens are barely Anglican and certainly not catholic. The Sydney Anglicans have ripped altars out of churches and replaced them with Bibles in glass cases. If anything, they are only an inverted variation of the Anglican Communion's widespread crisis of orthodoxy/Christianity.
Sadly. What's happening in the Episcopalian church is a tragedy to all of us.

Agree with joel re the Jensens who appear to be christians more often than Anglicans.
Apparently the Anglicans in the USA and even the UK do ont understand 1 Tim 3 or Titius 1.
Catholics of course have never understood this!

Just checked, are you referring to the Titius-Bode law? Or was that a Bible reference Homer?

It was almost certainly a bible reference, Dreadnought. Homer has a certain sectarian dislike of Catholics on the grounds they don't teach in accordance with the Bible. Of course, the early church was responsible, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, for selecting the canonical books, so it's essentially crap

Perhaps then he means Titus, rather than Titius. I've heard of Protestants doctoring the Bible for their own ends, but inventing whole books? Ha!
Thanks QV, crap it is

no dislike.
1 tim3 and titus 1 provide problems for most denominations which ignore it but it must be admitted it does hit the Cathloic denomination very hard since it contradicts its doctrine.
hmm
The holy Spirit can't inspire the bible and the early church to do contradictory things sso we must judge which one was it nor present at?

I have no idea what you're on about Homer, but sectarian hate is not welcome here.
For an enlightened view of Titus 1 (glad you got the reference correct) see this post and then this discussion by Noam Elkies of the 'liar paradox'.

Mr D if you think pointing out contradictions between the bible and what denominations do is hateful then I believe you need to understand the english language!

Claiming Jesus was gay is as misleading as claiming that he was heterosexual. We simply dont know.
Obviously he loved men and women.
People who think he was hetero might enjoy the Book of (Nobelprize winner ) José Saramago: The Gospel according to Jesus Christ...
(The Church didn´t like the book though........)

Mr D if you can show me where I have indulged in hate I will heartily apologise.
If you can't then perhaps you should.
