I'm going to take a lot of flack for this, but that's okay.
This guy obviously didn't watch the game on Sunday that got the Titans into the playoffs. If he had of, he would have known that it was Kerry Collins, NOT VY, that was the reason the Titans won. San Diego wasn't very nervous when they came from behind and beat the Titans a couple of weeks ago at LP Field. I can't believe they are nervous about Vince this week either. They might be nervous about the defensive line, but certainly not Vince Young.
Young was a great college QB, but he is a sub-par professional QB, to put it nicely. He can't throw the ball more than 10 yards and hit a receiver. Until he can do that, he will not make it in the NFL. I know the kid can run, but if he has to run every game, we are looking at another McNair, where he will spend more time on the injured reserve list than on the football field. You can't get hit by 270 lb. linebackers play after play, week after week, and last more than 3 seasons. Plus, pretty soon defenses will be shutting down his running game too, just like they did to Vick. The difference is that Vick can also throw a football. Until Vince can, the Titans will finish 9-7 and will need a good kicker so they can win games like they did against the Texans (by kicking 8 field goals).

As I went back and re-read that, I realize that it seems a bit off topic. Oh well. At least I got to rant for a minute. I guess I just get tired of everyone pretending that Vince Young is the savior that Tennessee football has long awaited. I like the Titans and I like Vince Young, but they should be writing stories about Tennessee's defense. That was the real story to the Titans success this year. 3-1 with Albert Haynesworth in the lineup, 0-4 without him. Jeremy | Email | Homepage | 01.04.08 - 12:52 pm | #

I think one of the problems with VY this year is that he's trying to fit that "NFL Quarterback" mold. Last year, he took over games after he was named starter by scrambling and running WHEN HE HAD TO. Granted, he's not a great passer but he's a great playmaker, I think.
But, yeah, the writer was stroking him a bit much.
Still, GO TITANS!

I agree 100% with what you said. I think that is more of the Titans fault than Vince's. I don't know if they have tied him down somewhat to keep him as injury free as possible or what, but their is a distinct difference from last year to this year. Maybe it's just the sophomore or even the Madden curse, but he was definitely a better ball player last year. Jeremy | Email | Homepage | 01.04.08 - 2:15 pm | #

Well, it didn't work out.
I think Vince is going to be a very good NFL quarterback. But as a Houstonian, I can tell you that all the angst around here about not drafting VY has sort of ebbed. But it was ridiculous for awhile. In the first game this year that the Titans came down here and VY didn't even play but they still beat us, there were people calling in to sports radio saying that VY was still the reason the Titans won - just his presence on the sidelines, and if he had been on our sidelines, not playing, we would have won
Well, all the "all he does is win" talk has started to fade as reality has set in.
I hope that VY gets good coaching and has a better year next year. And, yes, it may be that they aren't letting VY be VY - I'm not sure.
I do know that down here in lowly Houston us Texans fans have nothing to brag about. The Titans OWN us - we're O for Vince over the last two years . . . Man! Bill | Email | Homepage | 01.16.08 - 7:34 am | #
