Gravatar Me too. Beyond words.

Gravatar This move has all the class of a Barbara-Bush-type behavior, or of one of her litter. Crass, simple, ignorant and self serving is what is is, plain and simple.

Gravatar Well...one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World...you know, the "quaint" place where the idea of the rule of law was born...soooo last millenia....

Gravatar I'm not a student of archaeology or anthropology, but I understand heritage and the importance of historical sites.

Sometimes it pains me to admit I'm American. We've been so much more than this.

Gravatar Bush ought to be hung up by his nads for this alone! And here is just one of many site we've destroyed in the "cradle of civilization". We're worse than any rampaging ancient armies that conquered and burned cities on the surface - we have bunker busters to pulverize any subterranean evidence of prior civilizations! Hell new understanding of pre-biblical times might somehow conflict with our biblical beliefs! What would Ratzo do? - WT I think you're on a theme here!

Gravatar It would have been looted is his excuse? We had to destroy the ancient site in order to save it.

Gravatar As one with an abiding interest in archeology I find it to be incredibly sad. Have they no shame??? Bastards!

Gravatar Given the general tenor of this endeavor, I think it's more apt to call this one the Lynching Gardens of Babylon.

Gravatar It is odd that the current US Embassy is in of Saddam's old palaces -- the one called the "Republican Palace," isn't it?

Regards,

Gravatar Out with the old, in with the nu--
cular.

Gravatar The SOB who came up with the idea of putting a helipad on a site of cultural significance just doubled our risk here in the US. Not only are major population centers now at risk, but any area near a major historical or cultural site will also be vulnerable. How incredibly stupid!

Gravatar In addition to the desecration of some of the holiest places in the world, this administration is bent on rewriting history. The "cradle of civilization" will be Crawdford, TX. And the US never made a mistake either.

Did anyone else hear the report that since 2002 the National Archives, with the help of the CIA and NIA and others, has destroyed more than 95,000 pages of previously classified information - much of which was documentation of (war?) plans that had not been successful?

I heard it on CBS newsradio one morning during the week. But I haven't found any reference to this story anywhere...

Gravatar queek, Bush has nads?

Give the Bush Cabal shovels, drop them off at the site and tell them to fix it. Bastards.

Gravatar This is just too sad even to think of such a thing. We will forever be blamed, rightfully.

Gravatar Ya think this will rank up there with the Turks using the Parthenon as their ammo dump, which then went boom?

Gravatar Hmmm... good point ellroon.

OK! How about about an evisceration/hanging Hannibal style?

.

Gravatar [republican]
Buncha old rocks and shit. Small price to pay for Freedom on The March.

Besides, it's our country now - we invaded it and took it over fair and square. We can do what we want with it.

Hey!! Look over there! A freshly painted school!!
[/republican]

Gravatar Afterall, to Bush, the Constitution is just a "damn piece of paper." You think he has any respect for antiquity?

Gravatar This puts whatever moronic army command was in charge in exactly the same league as the Taliban and their destruction of the Banyam Buddha's.

Fucking cretinous neanderthals.

Hanging would be too goddam good for these people.

Gravatar Aren't we really fucked up?

We are, very really, fucked up.

Oh yah, super fucked up.

You're telling me?

Or, you talking to me?

Gravatar hey now! if our fair haired troops hadn't "found" those artefacts and archived them in those sandbags for safekeeping, God know what those swarthy looters might have done with them!

Gravatar From the BBC article:

Col Coleman argues that whatever his troops did, the alternative would have been far worse.

If they hadn't moved in, Babylon would have been left at the mercy of looters, he says.

You mean Baghdad wasn't at the mercy of looters? Who knew?

Gravatar scum sucking pigs.

Gravatar *twitch twitch*

Gravatar i just love archaeology. i can't believe the STUPIDITY of who represents us to the world.

WHERE IN THE HELL IS THE KHARMIC SMACKDOWN???
