New Testament BAD (except Revelations).
Old Testament GOOD.

is that a pro or anti christian rally? the hate thing sends a confusing message.
Once my son in law asked me if I read this really great book called "left behind". after doubling over in laughter I told him that I don't give the Moonies any of my money. then, I had to explain that Moon publishes that trash. He seemed surprised.

Notice the whackjobs are "left behind" a 'Bureau of Sanitation' barrier...LOL!!! Yup, their hate is definitely trash!!!
Pagan Pride baby!!! I like folks of varying belief systems...unless they are trying to invalidate my own. Then I get a little testy!

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Rapture. When all the "good" Christians are gone, I'll take all their sh*t.

I hate to break it to ya, Crow, but if Teh Rapture only takes real (i.e., New Testament-worshipping) Christians instead of "good" Christians, they probably won't have nearly as much stuff to leave behind, and we'll all miss them terribly.
But here's a thought: What with Jesus being such a sweet guy and all, maybe Teh Rapture is just a way to get the insane fundies out of our hair without hurting their widdle feelings. Maybe He'll even set them up in some kind of fake Heaven where they get to live in the joyless, hate-filled world they so desperately desire, which they would never realize is actually Hell.

I always thought when Republican Fundamentalists talked about being left behind, they were referring to their school days.
Personally, I hope the Rapture happens soon, so those nutjobs get the hell off my planet.
(And out of curiousity, why do they always float away nekkid?)

This seems like escalation in a build-up to the real thing, actually killing those who don't believe as they should.
It started with calls from fundies for the deaths of others and suggestions God should punish communities.
Ok, I've only linked to Pat Robertson's idiocy, but there are many others.

Actually, some of those "left-behind fundies" are extremely wealthy - they are the donors and sponsors behind all these mega-churches and think tanks. You do not build an empire without money (to pay for both armies and propaganda).
If you have money, you want to protect it, and religion combined with government makes a strong combination. The Roman Empire did not fall completely. We are left with bureaucracy... and guess who preserved THAT? Look at all of the kings who became sainted! Each European country has a royal saint in order to convert and rule the populace.
Let's take King Olaf: pagan as they come, kicked out of his own country, raised an army and marched back across the homeland... burning... looting... killing. His OWN people. Nice saintly sort, right? On his deathbed, he supposedly converted. 3 required miracles and a couple of witnesses later: tada! A royal saint was produced. It secured the country for the Christians and 1/4 of all church proceeds went back to Rome.
If they leave, all naked and glowy and enraptured, it won't be soon enough. We have a lot of work to do to get our government back.

I, for one, wish that all of these freaky ferocious fundy types would all report to their megalithic 'churches', er, converted sports arenas (yeah, I live in Houston - land of the Lakewood Corporation, I mean, worship-megaplex), take a paper cup from the trays and drink a deep draught from the dixiecup and keel over. Now, any children of these freaks will be left safe in a humanely run daycare that will let them be re-allocated to families (of any makeup) that will love them and impart the special qualities that humans need to GET ALONG w/one another and this planet. And none of this whack-job holier than thou, my god is bigger than your god, my god kicks your god's butt b.s.
Imagine what this country could accomplish if it weren't so pitted against 'outsiders' even among it's citizens...and encourage diversity and productivity!?!?! So, there might be fewer billionaires, but there could be a heckuva lot more folks above the poverty line.
But then, what would the MSM do? Far fewer scandals to report on...oh my...

I suppose this clarifies for any of you not already certain of it exactly why I have included the word "Apologetic" in the name of my schismatic one-member-only Church of the Apologetic Apprentice Christian.
Let me say it again: I am sorry, sorry, sorry.
Even before I saw this posting, I had posted a blog entry titled "Springing the Great Whatever..." at http://gadflying.blog.com/774665/
This makes me heartsick--the Great Whatever will probably survive it, but it is truly despair-making to realize there are so many insane people sharing the earth's surface with us.
I am trying to remember that hate like theirs is acid to the soul...but honesty obliges me to confess that "dislike" isn't nearly strong enough for what I feel about these people, and my anger doesn't leave much room for sorrow or pity for them.
Still, I don't think you'll see me any time soon carrying a placard urging their extirpation. I will allow myself this: I hope they don't breed.
Again, I'm sorry.

If OBL had wanted to start a "holy war," as Bush contends, the terrorists could just as easily have blown up a few mega-churches, and taken out a LOT more people. But they didn't. Chimpy is the one who is turning his fiasco in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran into a holy war.

FYI: The last time I heard about "The Purpose Driven Life", it was when the lady in the South had read passages of it to the escaped convict and convinced him to turn himself in to the authorities. She also provided him with crystal meth. Coincidence? I think not.

I swear that the delightful couture modeled by the sneering Xtian Hausfrau is right out of the Laurabot06 collection.
It's funny how prideful they are in their righteous hatred yet they hide behind big sunglasses. Perhaps they don't quite have the courage of their convictions, the effing white trash crackers.

She also provided him with crystal meth.
From her private stock, which she just happens to carry with her?
In a sane society, these people would be safely segregated from the rest of us, doing finger painting and weaving baskets in serene and verdant surroundings.
And if they chose, even there, to practice self-flagellation, I would pose no objection. It's their other-flagellation against which I protest.
As for The Rapture, I'm with TenGrain. I repeat: If invited, I would not go. First, of course, I would find the company unpromising. But just as important, I figure everyone left behind is going to be having enough problems without having to watch my aged behind ascend buck-nekkid into the beyond. There are limits to the punishment appropriate for even the greatest sinners!
