these comments don't seem very viscious to me, certainly not an attack. will harper's decision not to attend these games cost him politically? i guess he doesn't think so. he doesn't seem to think that ditching kyoto or unwavering support of american foreign policy will hurt him either. i fail to see how kd lange's celebrity or current lack of it, has much bearing on her comments though. seems like you're just being mean-spirited to me. of course, that's your cross to bare.

k.d. lang: Who cares what she thinks? She's got a great voice, but(t) as for her views on PMSH's decision not to make an appearance at the Outgames in Montreal: how predictable. Ho hum.
Gays in Canada may be surprised that this decision on PMSH's part may actually gain him support in this country. The silent majority of Canadians find the incessant narcissism, limelight (and other things, too)-grabbing, whining, and grandstanding of the maybe 3% of the population that is homosexual a BIT MUCH. No, A LOT MUCH, actually.
'Talk about arrested development. Gays come across as teenagers stuck in me-first mode; now that's normal behaviour coming from a teenager (I know: I'm the mom of a teenager), but when it's coming from so-called grown wo/men (k.d.'s in her 40s, isn't she?), it's downright unattractive and doesn't really bear scrutiny.
k.d., go back to singing. Whining doesn't become you.

The only people who DO like Harper are the Conservatives. -Stephen Harris
Seeing as how fully two thirds of Canadians approve of the job he's doing, while 36% voted for the Conservatives in the last election, it would seem that's not the case.

The latest decima polls put support for the conservatives at exactly where it was during the last election, which means the same results we currently have will be obtained again, were an election held today, meaning another conservative minority government.
Of course, that ignores the fact that political parties without leaders actually tend to do BETTER in the polls because individuals tend to think of the dieal leader they would vote for, rather than an actualy, flawed person.
This also ignores the fact that the conservatives actually went into the last election about 10 points behind the liberals, whereas in the case they're about 6-7 points ahead, depending on which poll you view. Personally, it is my belief that they'll go into the election and ride heigher in the polls. The next election is a looong way away.
Lastly, come on Harris: Another *bush* comparison? Do you guys on the left ever make any *valid* criticisms, or do you just always stick with polemics and invective?
Man, I'd never vote for you.
Rock on. Dante!

Mark, I call it as I see it. When Harper is the only leader in the world besides Bush's bossum buddy Blair to justify Isreal's actions, one can easily compare the two.
You people are so lost, it's really not funny. It's sad.
600 civilians have been killed in Lebanon and there contries infastruce hs been demolished and you say it's justified. You're beloved leader says it's justified.
This guy isn't getting a majority. He's not even gonna get a minority if he doesn't shape up and nor should he. He's the worst thing to ever happen to this country but you guys have your heads so far up his ass that you can't even see it.
You're nothing more than warmongering pigs and it sickens me.

Let's keep the polemics to a minimum, people. This is a place of reasoned discourse, not angry bickering.

How can you not be angry with our world turning to shit and people like you letting it happen.
Regardless, yes, perhaps I sometimes get out of line and I'm never sure why the hell I visit here.
Take care,
