The Abbe's Cell

Well said, but here's something you aren't hearing on the national news. I live in Baton Rouge, near the campus of LSU. Many of the refugees from New Orleans have been sent to the BR River Center, which is our arena in Baton Rouge.
No sooner had they arrived and settled on Thursday than the local news reported that there had been several instances of "unrest" and looting in downtown Baton Rouge, enough to prompt the local government to send ALL state and federal employees in downtown BR home. LSU announced that all buildings would be locked, and urged campus workers to stay indoors.
There have also been other reports of the purportedly "otherwise law-abiding" citizens vandalizing in other towns west of NO. Basically, the rest of Louisiana and Texas are now taking in every hoodrat and gangster in New Orleans.
The sheer incompetence of the NO mayor and our governor is staggering. The NO police, notorious for their corruption, have apparently stopped to loot right alongside everyone else:

The city of NO having little to no preparations for the hurricane is amazing, especially after the close call that New Orleans had with hurricane Ivan. Blanco is way in over her head and evidently has no real leadership skills. But then again, I'd expect nothing less from a crony of Edwin Edwards. Absolutely incredible.
