Glad to see some lights back on at the Chateau! I actually came by hoping maybe the latest Tour de France doping escapade might have pulled you back to the keyboard to opine, but this is just as good, if not better.
Re your post and specifically the comment on the "President... denigrating well-meaning conservatives ": does that mean that we're in agreement that "well-meaning conservatives" are a group that does NOT count the President as one of its own?
One might possibly argue the "well-meaning" part - hard to know what's in an individual's heart so who can say? Maybe his motives are as pure as the driven snow... maybe.
It does seem to me however that it would take some stretch of the imagination to describe the current President's policies as traditionally "conservative". Certainly some conservative icons have questioned his credentials in this regard (Buckley comes to mind of course). Then again I've not usually thought of myself as a conservative either, so perhaps I'm speaking out of turn. What do you think?
