Greyman and i each clutter our desks; if anything else of his encroaches other space it goes in his tool room regardless of what it is. If my stuff encroaches, it goes in my studio, same deal. Unfortunately, you have to walk through my studio to get to the rest of the house :}
I like the fact that you call distractions "the leak"--intent does trickle away with interruptions!

Hubby & I each have defined spaces that we can clutter (or not). He has a space on the kitchen counter where he empties pockets of keys, golf tees and assorted receipts. I have an end table. If either of us let our clutter escape these defined boundaries, a simple word brings us back in line. We have found that by limiting the space it feels contain. I never think about his area - unless it expands. When my clutter gets out of control, I toss it in the studio and close the door!
