Dave,

Perhaps Folio was referring to F&W's substantial book business when they mentioned a "departure for Nussbaum"?

Your comments regarding the similarities between B2B and consumer/enthusiast magazines are valid, however enthusiast book publishing brings a different set of challenges for Mr. Nussbaum. Quirky distribution channels (clubs, booktrade, specialty retail, mass merchants, education) and inventory management are a few that come to mind. Good luck to him.

Russ:

Could be. But even the book business isn't all that unusual/unique for effective b2b publishers.

One of our clients sells a number of books each year, and adds a new title every other year. While that's not the "book business," per se, it's still very profitable.

I trust that F+W has experts in book distribution, and that perhaps David will be able to bring in some good outside perspective as well.
