Send me a banner and I'll fly it
The poster that annoys me most is the one of the ethnic wheelchair user sportsperson. Political correctness gone bloody mad.

Personally, I'd be far more offended by a Vodafone hospital or a Bodyshop high school than almost anything else I can imagine.

Oh come on - the bid has to be good for London - it needs the cash injection and the improvements that the Olympics would bring.

NYC is also suffering from 'The Bid'. We're competitors you know. The entire west side of Manhattan is up in arms, battling each other...the 'quality of life/sanctity of neighborhoods' folks against the 'cash investment / new jobs' folks. I vote for more trains, and less football. (The Olympic Stadium is to be converted for usage by the New York Jets, post-Olympics.)

i'm sure the vodafone hospital would offend millions DG. until they got knocked down by a bendy bus and needed to be whisked to it's shiny facilities (in a lovely new easyjet ambulance). i dont give a fuck who builds the new hospitals this city/country desperately needs. you only need to spend an afternoon in my local victorian hell hole (whipps cross) to come to this conclusion.

i'd argue that any improvements will be long term. i guarantee that the private money secured will be nowhere near enough for the ambitious plans and that londoners will still be paying for this event in 30 years time (just like they still are in montreal). i'm not against the planned improvements, i'm against the reason for them.

Hear, hear ditch the bid... London would gain nothing of any lasting use.

IT WOULD MAKE THE LEA VALLEY LOOK NICER THAN IT IS NOW.
WELL, THE PLANS LOOK LOVELY, ANYHOW.

I'm with Darren.
Any comments that I'm in favour purely because my property is on the outskirts of most of the developments, and house prices in the area will shoot up are utterly spurious.

It's the old boys who'll lose their allotments that worry me.
