I don't want to appear uncool, but the Jem album is really good. Mind you I didn't stop my car in a back street in Hackney to listen intently!
Can you be a bit more specific on the nature of the album - what does it sound like?
Please bear in mind my musical taste is limited. I'm off to see Neil diamond on the 04 June at Woburn......Sweet Caroline...da da da da..............

Give me the Rezillos any day. Saw them with the Undertones in - um - 1978? Fabulous gig.

Nothing wrong with Stevie Wonder!
I wouldn't know if I'd won or not - is it the most obscure, the most ironic, or the most hardcore?

Would Bruce Springsteen beat the Rezillos? Silly question to ask you of course. Maybe if it were something from his 'Nebraska' album.

if you need to ask if you've won in such a 'sound clash' then you've lost.

Boy George talks about that duet with Antony in his new autobiography. He recorded it the day after getting the news that "Taboo" was being closed down early on Broadway; on receiving the news, he had gone ballistic and missed that night's performance. Hence he was still in a delicate emotional state when recording the song. When he left the studio, he realised that something extraordinary had been recorded - and felt redeemed / renewed / reminded of why he made music in the first place. Lou Reed later heard the track and described it as "pure emotion". When George was mailed the recording a while later, he burst into tears the first time he played it, thinking of his own sister was was living and working abroad.
I surprised myself by really enjoying System Of A Down's BYOB. I like the maximalism...
