For the black-power, conspiritorial folks like Farrahkhan, Wright, Sharpton, Maddox and all of their believers/followers (which in the black communities, I am finding to be a fair amount), I suggest a good, thorough reading of one book: The Myths That Divide Us, by Anthony Perazzo.

Google it, order it, read it, verify it's footnotes and annotations.

Wright's denial of bigotry is as fallacious as John Hagee's denial (on the Dennis Prager show last week) of being an anti-Catholic and equating the Catholic Church with the great whore of revelation.

Both are saddening.

If the black communities are going to pull themselves up and above, they are going to get an entirely different set of leaders.

Examples or suggestions: J.C. Watts, Walter Williams, Condoleeza Rice, Thomas Sowel, Thomas Sowell and of course, Thomas Sowell.

Just to name a few.

Compare them with Charles Barkley, Farrakhan, Wright, Sharpton, Jackson etc.

Compare the example, intellect, message and positivity the likes of Watts, Rice, Williams, Sowel preach versus the paranoia, negativity, conspiracy, constant vicitimhood and give me, give me, give me message of the current self-appointed black leadership (Sharpton, Farrakhan, Jackson, et al). It's sad these men have followers.

Gravatar Also there is suitcase bomb under the whole institutional racism metanarrative: the enormous societal and financial success of recent black immigrants.

Gravatar Word.

Gravatar Z,

...and don't forget about former ambassador, author, radio talk show host , presidential candidate (and Catholic) Alan Keyes !!

Gravatar Yeah, it's not like there hasn't been steady process in black officeholders. We've had two secretaries of state (and the first woman in that position), another black Supreme Court Justice (only the second), the head of the military (Colin Powell), the first female Supreme Court Justice: all under Republican administrations.

Even the Democrats chipped into the social progress, by appointing the first female Speaker of the House.

Of course, Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, Condy Rice, and Powell aren't really black, though, right?

Gravatar No, or if it iis admitted they are indeed black (by the 'so-called' self-appointed black leaders), they are automatically called uncle-Tom's etc.

I forgot about Keyes, Thomas and Powell. All fine minds and just more examples of actually legitimately successful people in contrast to the Farrrakhan's et al.
