What I think is interesting is they are STILL using the "Respect the OFFICE" argument in public. That is one of the things that they usually do in private. And they usually do it with people more junior.
I've had it used on me in another situation. As much as you think you can tell them to go pound sand, it can be effective, but with someone who has abused "the office" so often it is really bizarre that they still think that they deserve any respect.
But it is something that the Right Wing authoritarians who are movement conservatives believe. They think they deserve respect because of the office, not because they have earned it.

I agree about Scott McClellan...he seemed like the sacrificial lamb. They probably got rid of Ari Fleischer because the guy was too intelligent, and couldn't come across like someone who had been kept in the dark.
In one sense this outburst by Perino shows that they are reaching the bottom of the barrel for how to cope with the "insurgency" of Helen Thomas.
I'm guessing that this "honor and privilege" business is what they say to each other. They feel like acolytes in a holy place. And they can't understand that Helen is a skeptic in the religion of "Commander n Thief."
So Perino simply does not know what to do with someone who fails to bow down to the "house religion." To toe the line of ritual abasement. To not swallow the holy excrement that she's dishing out for her "dear leader."
So, it's annoying. But it's also a sign that they simply don't know how to cope with a person who's acting normal!

WASHINGTON - One of the most complete dinosaur mummies ever found is revealing secrets locked away for millions of years, bringing researchers as close as they will ever get to touching a live dino.
The fossilized duckbilled hadrosaur is so well preserved that scientists have been able to calculate its muscle mass and learn that it was more muscular than thought, probably giving it the ability to outrun predators such as T. rex.
While they call it a mummy, the dinosaur is not really preserved like King Tut was. The dinosaur body has been fossilized into stone. Unlike the collections of bones found in museums, this hadrosaur came complete with skin, ligaments, tendons and possibly some internal organs, according to researchers...etc etc...
