My misspent youth was all technically legal, as I hit the drinking age right before they raised it to 21. However, since I went to a very strict church college they sent spies to the local clubs trying to bust students breaking the rules. But Nashville has several colleges and universities and plenty of nite-life so it wasn't that hard to avoid the rats. Plus, they stuck out like sore thumbs. Everyone was dressed to dance and flirt, while they looked like a team of Mormons on bikes.

I forget where we were, sometime in the late 70's, with a group of friends in someone's dad's car...we'd left Georgetown in the dead of night and got turned around somehow and ended up probably in far Southeast...one of the guys in the car looked out at the scene in the street and said "this road leads straight to hell!"

Scarlet P is a guy. There are pictures from the meetup at Suzanne's a few weeks ago. I had thought he was a she at first as well, with the name Scarlet, but then I got the Pimpernel reference and all became clear!
in the pics from the NorCal firepups meetup, the freewayblogger sure looked like a guy. And iirc, the Scarlet Pimpernel was a male character.

Anyone know if Leeland Eli Eisenberg had his sentence commuted by Gov. Mitt? He was apparently serving until May of 2005 for a rape and other crimes. He had apparently been in and out of the Massachusetts Correctional system since about 1998. If he were paroled earlier, and committed another crime during the parole period one would think that he would have still have been serving.
So did Mitt approve his parole, like the murder Tavares?
And what about the mental illness that this guy clearly has...what has been Mitt's role in providing adequate budgeting for prisoners with mental illnesses to receive adequate care before they are released back into our communities.
It doesn't help to release rapists and other violent criminals back into our communities if they haven't been given sufficient treatment in prison and continuing supervision and assistance outside.
And if the illness still exists, and the sentence is completed, where is the needed follow up?
Is Eisenberg just another of Mitt's failures?

Ahhh...now I feel better. I came in this morning to find FDL gone. Nice to see all here.
By the time I read through nearly 700 comments on the Goodbye post, Attaturk's thread was closed. So I'm on pins and needles over here. Sooo grateful for TRex's hospitality.

Not for me, still getting the "pardon our dust messge", tried opening it on IE and Firefox. Is there a new address or will the same old one work?
I suspect it's going to be like last time, up and down until the bugs are ironed out (eeew flat bugs!)
It loaded slowly, the registration and comment links didn't work (404) and now it's down again.
Now I am REALLY gonna go run errands.

Registration complete, but now can't get back on. Half the country is trying to get logged in. I hope everyone will use their same name.
well, I'm aggravated with the new fdl... just my impatience... in a nutshell, I'd say the new site is less elegant but significantly more efficient... I miss "quote the comment"... I know there are plenty of times I miss a comment the first time through. and I miss the edit function, but perhaps I'll learn to preview... the look of it, I'll get used to, I think... kinda has a retro, halo-scanny kind of feel...and it is just different not having the photos at the top...
but I'm grumpy this morning.

Snowing here in Minneapolis, the start of possible 6-10 inches of snow. I have to go out & pick up some manuscripts for several book design jobs. Nice to have work, but glad its saturday so i don't have to contend with traffic. God/dess is smiling on us this year ... first snowfall is always a bitch cuz no-one remembers from year to year how to drive on the stuff. *grumbling ndfg slurps more coffee*
