Gravatar Good post, but one thing I want to mention:

Technically, as the folks at the Post are taking pains to emphasize, Domenech's brief employ was with washingtonpost.com, a separate company from the Washington Post.

It's an important distinction, because unlike the newspaper, which at least carries conservative Op-Ed writers, there are no conservative voices among post.com's pure bloggers (i.e., not newspaper columnists who also blog, like Metro's Marc Fisher--but of course they skew left too). Examples include The Nation alum Jefferson Morley writing World Opinion Roundup, Dan "I'm not writing as a liberal" Froomkin, and other lesser lights.

I once noted this in an email to Post ombudsman Deborah Howell, who informed me that Brady was looking for a conservative--and that was nearly a half year ago. I don't know why it took so long to add a single conservative writer, but the shock this delivered to the left shows us once again how much some of these people value true diversity.

As for the invective in the comments section, it's similar to some of the garbage thrown at Howell some months ago, making it that much more amusing when lefties expressed another round of outrage when her comments section was shut down.

Gravatar Do you think blogosphere denizens could find matching nasties among the right or are you suggesting that scorn must be reserved solely for the left?

Gravatar Ken

Both sides have behaved badly in this whole affair--their biases more than evident as they accuse slash defend slash explain . . .

Including the individual in the middle.

This is not, depsite all the hype, a left/right, red/blue issue.

It is dishonesty--cut, dried, admitted, and beyond dispute.

And it needs be left there, save for the lessons all those commenting should take from the matter.

Anything beyond that is political chatter that has no bearing on anything worthwhile.

Gravatar The problem with these comments is you don't know who wrote them. Are these regular readers of the washington post or did they just click over from some lefty blog to throw mud.

Gravatar jb....agreed. Dialog is so out of date in most circles.
