Am I the only person to think that the diversion of resources, a lot of it public money that could go to support regeneration elsewhere, is likely to be the consequence of the London Olympics? A short-term sporting event that serves to sell vast amounts of merchandise to the more affluent among us, and then leaves the bills to be picked up by the rest of us? Sorry, maybe the olympic ideals are worth paying a heavy price for, but I can't help wondering....
